Local Transport Opportunity Update
We have just a couple of weeks left to submit a funding bid to WECA in support of developing a new transport scheme i.e., a daily service connecting people living in Bitton, Oldland and Siston with Keynsham for example.
But we must get more evidence to justify the need for such a service. WECA is very keen to support us but this is likely to be a one off opportunity so please get involved.
If you depend on public transport or would sooner leave the car at home PLEASE complete the short survey.
Thank you to those that have already completed the short survey but we need more. Please share with neighbours, family and close friend that rely on public transport. We need as much evidence as possible.

Access Improved to Cock Road Ridge
In response to residents identifying a need to improve access to Cock Road Ridge from Wraxall Road work has been undertaken to create a safer and more accessible point for people visiting or commuting through the nature reserve. The improvements have been delivered through the Common Connections project working in collaboration with South Gloucestershire Council and Ridge Ranger volunteers.
Common Connections is a partnership project between South Gloucestershire Council and the West of England Combined Authority, consisting of a 4-year project to restore, improve and connect green spaces along the border of South Gloucestershire and East Bristol to benefit both nature and people introducing more wildflowers and habitat features to help wildlife and boost biodiversity.
The Ridge Rangers, being led by residents, is keen to address some of the most often muddy paths that restrict access to the nature reserve and have a negative impact on the surrounding habitat.
The work consisted of improving surfacing with steps leading up the previously muddy bank and a helpful new handrail. Along with additional fencing a new gate has been installed with modifications made to existing fencing to ensure small children and dogs can’t run straight out onto the busy road.

A guide to knife harm for parents and carers
Whatever the reason a young person is involved in knife crime, it is likely to have something to do with fear.
South Glos Council, through the #SouthGlos Violence Reduction Partnership, has worked with charity the Ben Kinsella Trust to reproduce a guide for parents and carers to help them speak to their child about knife crime and the risks and devastating consequences of carrying a weapon.

Life Saving Defibrillator at Cadbury Heath Hall
Oldland Parish Council has used CIL (Community Infrastructure Levy) funding to install an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), which is a life saving device that can help save the life of someone experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest. AEDs are easy to use, portable, with clear step-by-step instructions so anyone can use them, from a bystander to a trained professional. The AED is located at Cadbury Heath Hall, to the left of the main door, on the wall facing the road.
The AED is inside a locked cabinet. To access an AED in the event of sudden cardiac arrest, call 999/112 for an ambulance and give the emergency operator your location. The ambulance service will have the code to open the nearest defibrillator cabinet.
You do not need special training to use an AED as it will provide voice instructions and/or visual prompts instructing you what to do, from performing CPR to attaching the pads. See this useful instruction video on how to use an AED.
New Age Kurling
Oldland Parish Council in collaboration with Southern Brooks Community Partnership and Cadbury Heath Parish Hall have secured funding from Gloucestershire Masonic Charity Action to set up a New Age Kurling Group.
Based on the winter Olympic sport, New Age Kurling is a fun indoor activity for people of all abilities. It is a great way for people to socialise and make new friends whilst engaging in some mild exercise ‘no brushing required’.
The group meet every Wednesday from 2pm to 3pm at Cadbury Heath Parish Hall and cost just £3. Transport can be organised upon request.

New Look Community Hub
Oldland Parish Council has launched a new phase to the community engagement initiative. Having renewed the annual Commonplace subscription an opportunity has been taken to refresh the look of the Oldland Parish Community Hub and relaunch the Interactive Map. The Interactive Map is a great way to back up your suggestions and ideas with placing a pin.
This new phase gives more emthasis on keeping people better informed about the work of Oldland Parish Council and opportunities to participate in surveys to get their voice heard. Use this link to access the Local Transport Opportunity Survey.

Youth Services for young people in Willsbridge
Thank you for continuing to support the work of Oldland Parish Council and for taking the time to engage with and share our consultations.
Oldland Parish Council have launched a survey to engage with young people living in Willsbridge. The survey will help us better understand the need for regular youth service activities and build strong evidence to support future provision in Willsbridge and the wider area.
Being on the rural fringe of South Gloucestershire the area of Willsbridge is often left isolated. Poor transport links and lack of resources make it difficult for young people to access activities in other areas.
The views of young people are extremely important. We are interested in gaining a holistic view of young peoples interest to get a good idea of what regular activities will work will and ways in which we can invite young people to get more involved in their community.
Please encourage young people to take part in the survey to help shape youth services in Willsbridge. Young peoples voices really can ,make a difference.

Environmental Action 'New Tile'
Hello Everyone
We have just launch a new tile on the Oldland Parish Community Hub.
Following engagement and converations around environmental and climate change issues we have just launch a tile with the theme Environmental Action.
The theme is aimed to capture peoples views on how they would like to get involved in caring for our green space or participate in local environmental action.
We inform people and how they can get involved and our aspiration to revitalise and support new friends groups.

Jubilee Park – Community Engagement
We have been delighted to be involved in the consultation for the design of the new Jubilee Park in the former Warmley Golf Course. The new facility will further complement our existing open spaces, natural habitat, protection of our trees, planting, and allotments.

Share The Path
To promote active travel our good friends at the Bristol East Fringe Cycle and Walking Group have been busy putting up Share the Path signs along the Bristol to Bath Railway Path.
The Share the Path signs are intended to be a temporary measure pending installation of permanent signage as part of an overall Railway Path improvement programme, hopefully building on the Sustrans BS5 One Path project which is currently delivering path enhancements in the Bristol area.

Getting Around
The community has raised significant concerns regarding speeding.
We continue to raise your concerns with the authorities and attempt to work constructively with others to find solutions. Discussions continue to take place between the Police, South Gloucestershire Council, and the Community Speed Watch initiative.
Our objective is to formulate a structured and clear route to decision-making detailing reasons as to why action is / or not considered necessary. Once a proposed process is established this will be discussed with Oldland Parish Council, partner organisations and the community to ensure full awareness and engagement.
Local people are welcome to attend Oldland Parish Council Planning and Highways Committee meetings to raise speeding and other ‘Getting Around’ concerns i.e., active travel, congestion and pavement parking. People are welcome to work alongside local Councillors to find sustainable solutions.
If you want to take an active role in reducing speeding in your area, please consider joining the Oldland Community Speed Watch Team.

Phase Two is now live!
Making Oldland Parish a more Vibrant place to Live, Work and Play: our New Oldland Parish Hub is live!
Thank you to the many people that have so far contributed to our community engagement project using the Interactive Map. Your input is extremely valuable and helped to create a good foundation on which to find sustainable solutions. Phase Two of the project seeks to build on what we have learnt and begin to focus on key themed.
The New Oldland Parish Hub provides access to unique pages dedicated to key themes. You can still have your say by continuing to use the Interactive Map or contribute by interacting with a theme. The themes focus on Getting Around, Getting Actively Involved, Getting Our Environment Right and Getting Young People Involved.
As your first tier of Local Government, we are keen to offer people every opportunity to get involved. If you have a keen interest in any of the themes and like to become more active in developing ideas, please make contact.
Example: under the theme of Getting Around ‘pavement parking’ has been raised as a significant issue. Not just does pavement parking effect people’s ability to get around it puts people in danger. However, some consider it reasonable for people to walk out into the road regardless. If this is an issue that affects you or someone you know, either interact using the New Oldland Parish Hub or get in touch.

The new platform provides an interactive tool for communicating with our community. We are keen to get conversations going about key issues and concerns and get the communities backing for making changes where needed. If you are unable to use or access the technology, please get involved using email, letter, or telephone. There is still nothing better than a face-to-face conversation, so we are also keen to meet people on an individual basis and anyone is welcome to attend one of our council meetings. We want to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to have their say and get actively involved.
