Kingswood Rugby Club - Clubhouse Redevelopment Survey

Background

Kingswood Old Boys were formed in 1954 by a group of ex-pupils from Kingswood Grammar School. They built their own club house at the Church Avenue ground in 1979/80.   Since then, the now Kingswood Rugby Football Club has grown dramatically and consolidated a stronghold in the community at their home in Grimsbury Road, Kingswood.  Following this move in 1996 Kingswood RFC has enjoyed ample success and continues to offer many opportunities for people to take part at many levels.   Kingswood RFC has something for literally everyone from 2 years upwards and are as inclusive as facilities will allow.

Ongoing Infrastructure Development

As part of the ongoing development of the club, work has been undertaken to provide better shelter and improvements have been made to the kitchen and club house plus new floodlights have been installed.

Kingswood RFC have already spent more than £200k on development but much more needs to be done. The only thing holding us back, despite huge efforts are the facilities.

 What we need to resolve:

  • The changing rooms are from a design that is nearly 30 years old – not big enough, not suitable for the current dynamic and simply not enough of them.
  • The clubhouse is nice but too small – no scope to earn serious revenue, let alone manage our own functions.
  • Toilets are ok but no longer fit for purpose – not enough of them, too small, only have 1 accessible toilet that doubles as baby changing.
  • Little scope to open our doors to the wider community.

Where do we want to be?

First and foremost, we want a facility that can meet the ever-increasing demand of a vibrant and inclusive Rugby Club.   Our heart lay with having an open-door policy for individuals and families from all walks of life and backgrounds.  We firmly believe we have created something very special forming strong bonds both within and outside of the Rugby community. Our vision will enable us to meet current demand and continue to flourish as a community-based organisation.   We strive to increase opportunities to open the door and connect to the wider community.
